"We will remove the criminal aspect for journalists"/ Rama:

Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the conference on the right to information, also focused on online media. Rama said that there has been an increasing self-degeneration in online media.

The Prime Minister stated that online media has become a territory where forces unfriendly to the EU are also operating.

The Prime Minister further said that in 24 EU countries defamation is criminally punishable, while Albania will remove the criminal aspect for journalists.

Rama also touched on the term "cauldron" he used a few years ago in the media. A term for which Rama said that as long as he remembers it, it is still the correct term.

" Online media has become a black mark on freedom and democracy. We have also entered the annals of some strict countries, which have left us with a nail in the coffin, the media law, the media law. Some very basic things were required and the possibility of knowing who is reading their house book. There has been no self-regulation, but there has been an ever-increasing self-degeneration. We gave up and we do not intend to give up again until the EU has come to its senses. Everyone can see that the matter is getting completely out of control. Online media has become a territory where forces unfriendly to the EU also intervene. It is normal if you leave your house without windows, without a roof and pretend to sleep comfortably, then you believe in a world that does not exist. We will do something that 24 EU countries do not have. In 24 EU countries, defamation is punishable by law. We will remove the criminal aspect for journalists. I know that it will not be put on merit in relation to freedom, I am very clear that you will not count it as a positive gesture.

"Kazan is a term from 2017. Because it was the right term, it stuck in their minds. This was also the intention, so that there would be no need to tell them anymore. If you ask the people today, they will confirm it. We will make the term defamation for journalists. Not for the elected, whoever is elected by the people should be punished if they slander. Whoever informs about us, the elected by the people, should slander without being punished ," said Rama./CNA
