The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in today's press conference, joined Mero Baze's position.

Berisha said that Veliaj has been treated inhumanely in Durrës prison and has asked the Ombudsman to launch an investigation into Veliaj's treatment in prison.

"But today I also have to denounce the data I have that there is inhumane behavior towards the ordinary prisoner, Erion Veliaj. The Democratic Party has made dozens and dozens of protests for the arrest of this delinquent, who has not even been charged with 20 percent of the crimes he has committed.

But, whoever the prisoner is, his treatment in accordance with the rules and the code of treatment of prisoners is the necessary standard for every member state of the Council of Europe. There are reports that manipulations and serious, punishable acts have been committed against this prisoner, and I ask the Ombudsman to launch a full investigation into the attitudes towards this ordinary delinquent, but who in a member state of the Council of Europe enjoys the rights that the laws of the country recognize for imprisoned persons , "said Berisha.
