"Law with a blacklist for abusive builders"/ Rama: Nothing built after

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech during this Monday's meeting, focused extensively on the issue of illegal construction and legalization.

Rama said that the law will soon be approved to create a blacklist for builders and investors who abuse the territory and violate construction permits.

"We have discussed and will approve by law the creation of a blacklist of builders and investors who abuse the territory and violate construction permits. Whoever enters the blacklist will lose the right to obtain a construction permit and will be penalized if they are involved in the construction industry. We will take measures for a very problematic category of builders, like those fraudsters in the area where we were together with the Minister of Justice, who did not let residents enter the building, or others like them, who leave the buyers of their apartments on the street, without mortgage documents, or even making double sales. The measures for this category will be drastic and I urge you to run to solve this problem as soon as this normative act is issued, because then they will find a mess that they will have a very difficult time with", said Rama.

Regarding the legalization process, Rama emphasized that nothing built after 2020 will be legalized.

"Legalization is an abusive terminology used by individuals, entities that for profit begin occupying public spaces and then make a self-declaration that puts them as individuals in the legalization process. The legalization process by law was closed in 2020, so nothing built after 2020 is legalized. We will consider all self-declarations for buildings or structures for profit invalid, we are not here to discuss the homes of families who have built a house to put their heads in, and the public interest will prevail in all cases when an intervention needs to be made and no one can take out a piece of paper to say I am in the process", said Rama. /CNA
