Haxhimali: The action to free public spaces is delayed

The Director of the Institute for Municipalities, Agron Haxhimali, said today that the action to free up public spaces is a delayed action.

In a television interview, Haxhimali stated that even the demolitions carried out by the fadromes have a cost, as they are paid for by citizens' taxes.

According to Haxhimali, citizens must accept the fact and they should be more reserved about occupying public spaces.

"First of all, I want to emphasize that it is a delayed action. When I say delayed, I mean that Rama has been in power for 12 years and when you say that in these 12 years he has dominated all the municipalities of Albania that have belonged to his party. And here I want to emphasize the fact that although it is useful, neither the delay nor the way in which it is being intervened at this time is justified. They have had all the opportunities, all the power to exhaust themselves and not reach this situation because the consequences are economic. They are economic for both the builders, the beneficiaries, the citizens or the businesses, because in half an hour the fadroma collapses the investment that could have been made for hundreds of thousands of euros.

But of course it is also costly for any citizen because the fadromas, the machines, the inspectorates that are paid for by our taxes go and do a job that if they had prevented the entire chain of institutions they would not be in this state today. But from the time aspect, from the way it was recorded in this aspect, it is very regrettable because it corresponded to the summer season with a period that we also had tourists but also the Albanian citizens themselves should not be under this pressure. Any citizen but also those who are affected during this summer vacation period. But I think that it could be avoided, and they could be notified in time. They could also be given a 2-month period to pass this summer peak. Because even fumes cause environmental pollution.

Tirana is a little dirty and causing these other things also creates other health problems. So in this aspect, with a lot of criticism. In the legal aspect then. You rightly raise the question that some have had contracts, and some others have not. Those who have had, that contract should be respected in fact. We need to analyze it case by case. But if the contract has been broken. The municipality has signed the business for regular legal contracts in the legal dimension shows that injustice has been done to those citizens and the municipality should compensate them. For the rest that has happened, citizens must accept the fact and they must be more reserved. In this aspect, public sidewalks belong to all citizens.

"We Albanians do not deserve to see actions of rioters, tears of mothers, or children, destroying buildings, even without permission. Good governance does not reach this point," said Haxhimali./CNA
