Baton Haxhiu: Veliaj is the fraudster at the top of the criminal schemes, resign
Analyst Baton Haxhiu

Analyst Baton Haxhiu has made a reaction to the accusations thrown by the mayor Erion Veliaj against him and the media after leaving SPAK, where he stayed for 8 hours.

Through a long article, Haxhiu says that Veliaj insulted and threatened journalists and critical analysts one by one.

He describes Veliaj as a fraudster who stands at the top of criminal schemes.

According to him, the mayor of Tirana is politically empty, a man without personal opinion and political identity.

The analyst underlines that resignation is the least Veliaj can do, while emphasizing that under normal circumstances he should have been in prison for a long time.

Full statement:

A few hours ago, Erion Veliaj made a frantic television appearance, fiercely attacking television analysts with special emphasis.

Conquered by the fear of a legal process and the unpleasant feeling of learning with leeks in hand in a mountain of corruption affairs, Veliaj did not hesitate to spare insulting terms such as 'scum', 'scumbags', 'interesters' and 'despicable people' to television analysts, who demanded political accountability for the explosion of corruption scandals in the Municipality of Tirana.

When US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered his famous Four Freedoms speech on January 6, 1941, he put freedom of expression first.

The mayor of Tirana apparently quotes the American president without ever reading it.

After coming out of the interrogation by SPAK prosecutors, for a whole day, the mayor of the capital was clearly in a state of confusion.

First, he referred several times to the prosecutors as his "colleagues", then explained that he cooperated with the investigation of the incinerators, naturally referring only to government documents, because (he declared again) everything is in order for the work of the municipality.

But what came next was incredible.

Veliaj quoted Roosevelt as saying "I want to be judged by my enemies" and then attacked a number of journalists and media owners with unprecedented violence.

Not only did he insult them as a group, but he quoted them one by one, saying that each of them had made requests to the City Hall, warning that all these requests would be rejected.

In fact, his visit to SPAK and the increased public talk of corruption cases within the municipality is only the tip of the 'iceberg' of a frightening system of systematic theft, exchange of services for narrow interests and giving economic favors in exchange of economic support led by Erion Veliaj.

If 'Lali' at the top of the criminal schemes thinks that I should spare him from the resignation request even in conditions when all his appointees are involved in a more deserving criminal investigation, then he is not simply wrong, because the example of my work for thirty years in journalism and public engagements shows the complete opposite.

Also, his lie that I did not ask him for 'surveys' at 'unnecessary' prices does not simply reveal the inner self of an unscrupulous and deceitful man.

In the end, I have only had very superficial conversations with Erion Veliaj in a total of two or three meetings throughout my life, because his lack of moral personality and political shallowness have constantly caused in me an irresistible desire to stay as far away from him as possible.

However, his invention that my criticism stems from the non-fulfillment of some requests for 'surveys' with 'unnecessary prices' reveals the corrupt subconscious of the first of Albania's capital.

Such a fable emanates from a mind which, even at the most extreme levels of lying, cannot imagine that the demand for resignation comes from the simple motive of democratic accountability, the possibility of an investigation without institutional pressures and political responsibility under conditions of an extraordinary public scandal.

These notions are completely foreign to an ignoramus like Veliaj because his entire political worldview is transactional: buying and selling political support with different services and favors from the municipality of his interests.

Also, his conclusion that I am a man expelled from Kosovo shows more than a factual inaccuracy.

I continue to work tirelessly in Kosovo and Albania not only to give further impetus to the development of journalism between the two countries but also by serving as an engaged citizen.

In Kosovo, I have been attacked for political reasons by a discredited party like Albin Kurti's VV, whose poisonous language has given the painful result for the strain between the inter-state relations between Kosovo and Albania, the division of Albanians in Preševo, North Macedonia and reducing support for a number of national demands for Albanians in Montenegro.

In any case, today it seems perfectly clear that their brutal attacks were largely motivated to cover up their own involvement in mafia schemes.

While they once pointed the finger at me as one of the leaders of the GEN energy mafia, today it is precisely VV exponents who are being investigated for embezzling millions with the same company.

With this logic, Veliaj was driven out of Kosovo not only in dozens of political pamphlets written by the promiscuous hand of party propagandists, but also in the case when the Prime Minister of Kosovo closed the door of his office in the middle of Pristina.

Veliaj himself condemned the slanderous language of the same subject, acting according to the political practice of the "boy of Fahri" or the "suffler of Orjola" in Tirana.

Why does Veliaj use exactly the same logic on me?

The main thing is that Veliaj is politically empty, a man without personal opinion and political identity.

His behavior is not influenced by any ideological point of view but entirely by the needs for survival in different political circumstances.

Today he can condemn the language of confrontation and tomorrow cultivate it, today he can support the policy of Kosovo-Albania rapprochement and blow the wind of division between the two countries, today he can be in favor of the regional policies of Albania and tomorrow against them, depending on the possible electoral effect and his financial interest.

In the absence of a political identity of his own, Veliaj uses a completely incoherent political discourse full of contradictions and double standards. It remains important, however, that this wave of unbridled accusations and insults is also a political instrument in the hands of a man in a desperate situation.

He tries to diminish the value of the rightful resignation request by diminishing the personal credibility of the people behind the resignation.

This however remains nothing more than a poor propaganda technique of a man torn between the shiny show of Instagram and the dark world of organized crime.

Well, Erion, let's take it for a moment that we're all scumbags and scumbags and nothing more than scum.

Does this change the fact that a chairman who has all the important directors on trial for criminal schemes, a political figure who is also under investigation by SPAK and the main man in charge of the burner affair should resign in a genuine democratic society? Not at all.

In fact, resignation is the least because under normal circumstances you would have been locked in a narrow space behind the bars for a long time.

Therefore, instead of fruitless wars for attracting the attention of the audiences of patronage militants, it is better that the discussion on this issue takes place within a democratic framework, however difficult such an undertaking may be for you.

It is difficult, of course, even to bump into the example of Saimir Tahir, from an artist of social network politics with unsupported dreams of becoming a star of national politics, to an emblem of moral turpitude with very little substantive contributions to the public sphere. .

You have never won any political race.

One last thing.

For me who writes, among other things, I was reprimanded for coming to Albania because I had been expelled from Kosovo.

At the same time, his staff from City Hall has distributed a post with the faces of the journalists quoted: a real elimination list.

I, who am writing, do not like to talk about myself, but the president should know that we Kosovar Albanians have resisted many persecutions and other discriminations, we have lived a war.

And you also remember that we won it.

We now wonder whether a man who shows such low regard for his country's media and who goes so far as to publicly threaten it, should be allowed to govern the capital of a country that wants to join the European Union.

Regarding associates of justice.

When Tommaso Buscetta repented and began to tell Judge Falcone about the organization of Cosa Nostra, he ceased to be a mobster.
