The Transmission System Operator is investing to increase the capacities in the Rrashbull electrical substation in the Durrës area. An investment divided into two phases, which enables the increase of security and quality of energy supply.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, as well as the Administrator of OST, Skerdi Drenova closely followed the completed works, which turn this substation into one of the new centers of the transmission system.

"We installed two new auto transformers. Rrashbuli will be one of the new centers of the transmission system where the growth and strengthening of this substation affects both the supply of the city of Durrës and the Western Lowlands. At the same time, it is also the future because it will affect, both in the new port of Porto Romano, in Spitalle, as well as in the Marina of Durrës", explained Drenova, referring to the ongoing project.

Deputy Prime Minister Balluku announced that there are several important projects related to the transmission system and the increase of capacities, which not only expand the capacities in our country, but have an impact on the entire region.

"We have started a very intensive and very serious work regarding the entire part of strengthening the transmission networks. Not only the empowerment, but we also have plans to make new big projects which will turn into projects that will serve the entire region, even the European transmission lines", underlined Balluku.

With all the development that has taken place in the establishment of new renewable capacities, continued Balluku, which are already spread not only in the Western Lowlands, but also in other areas of the country, it is also important to develop and increase capacities.

"From 2019 to today, in these 5 years, there has been a very big change both in the interest to invest in renewable energy, but also in the interest in trying new technologies that were not on the market before . What we have to do, and we have started a work in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, is a coordination of all investments starting from the TSO, the Transmission Operator and up to the Distribution Operator or even the private entities, which are building new capacities in the Republic of Albania. In addition to all the efforts that KESH is making to diversify the portfolio", said Balluku.

The investment for the expansion of the Rrashbulli substation is part of the project "Construction of the 400 Tirana-Rrashbull double circuit air line and the 100kV ring of Tirana, part of the energy efficiency program.
