Balla: July 2, 1990, the day when Albanians tore down the "Berlin Wall" towards Europe

In a special commemoration on July 2, Minister of State Taulant Balla shared a symbolic message of the historic event of 1990, when thousands of Albanian citizens defied the communist regime by entering Western embassies in Tirana, an act considered the "fall of the Berlin Wall" for Albania.

"On this day, the reunification of Albanians with Europe began," Balla writes, expressing gratitude for the brave people who overcame fear and paved the way for democratic changes in the country.

This date has now become a symbol of Albania's European aspiration and the will of its citizens for freedom, dignity and democracy.

Balla states that today, 35 years later, this day serves as a reminder of the long road that has been traveled and the continuous commitment needed to build a free, democratic Albania and a full part of the European family./CNA
