The director of the History Institute, Afrim Krasniqi, has commented on the creation of the new party of Enkelejd Alibeaj, Agron Shehaj and Lulzim Basha.

According to Krasniqi, the creation of new parties due to personal disagreements does not make Albania more pluralistic or more democratic.

Krasniqi emphasized that the main political parties are not democratic nor guarantee the plurality of opinions and that the political elites that emerged in the first post-communist phase are incapable of building a functional democracy based on values, meritocracy and development alternatives.

"A new party was created today. Number 139. The fifth in the last six months and the fourth within the DP parliamentary group elected in 2021. And there will surely be others. Until now, Berisha, Basha, Alibeaj and Shehaj will have their own party. On the other hand, the left remains solid; the disaffected/outcasts there build palaces/towers/resorts, not parties.

The message? The creation of new parties due to personal disagreements does not make Albania more pluralist or more democratic. Neither the unification of the parties with the voice/figure/passions of the president or the president's refusal to vote in the party since 2009 does not make Albania more pluralistic nor more democratic.

The two phenomena are indicators that the main political parties are not democratic nor guarantee the plurality of opinions and that the political elites that emerged in the first post-communist phase are incapable of building a functional democracy based on values, meritocracy and development alternatives. The unwritten rule remains: those who think differently are excluded, their name is removed from the list of candidates in the next election, the inability for visionary leadership in the group has created the model of the leader who leads the crowd and the cult of the individual; the chairman never leaves unless he wants to or he decides.

And this deformed model of the political oligarchy, based on the cult of the leader / anti-values ??/ personalization and holding progress hostage, also due to the overpowering of the parties, as it was expected to happen, has become a culture of thought / action in institutions, in local government, in public entities, in universities, in academia, in the media, in associations and up to orders organized on a professional basis.
