Veliaj, as a failed political investment

Erion Veliaj is not the individual political project of an ambitious, well-educated, articulate and communicative boy. On the contrary, it is a joint political investment of many powerful and influential actors.

The red hand of MJAFT in the early 2000s was preceded by a promotional campaign never seen and heard before in Albania. Nearly the size of an electoral campaign, it included posters, leaflets, media, spots, etc.

The effort to launch the MJAFT movement and keep it firmly in the public eye cost millions of dollars funded by foreign embassies and powerful donors. Only one year after its establishment, MJAFT also received a prestigious award from the United Nations Organization, an achievement that organizations with tens of years of activity and real achievements dream of.

After the artificial creature "ENOUGH" did not take off and failed to produce the expected social movement, its funders decided to turn it into a political party, although this goes against many of the principles of foreign aid and funding in any normal country. Even in an abnormal country like Albania, there has always been a division between funding for civil society and funding for political forces. Not in the case of MJAFT and Veliaj!

The G99 batch turned out to be neither more nor less than a straw flame. It was created with fanfare and high expectations in 2008, was again generously funded enabling a media campaign similar to the major parties in the 2009 election, but finished with less than 1% of the vote. Like the GYAFT movement before it, the G99 remained an artificial creature with no future.

While for many analysts and commentators, the disappointing result of 2009 was interpreted as the failure of the "Veliaj" political project, the reality showed the opposite. In 2011, Veliaj found himself secretary of the Socialist Party, abandoning the movement and political force for which he had invested almost 10 years of career and millions of dollars, euros, pounds, francs, etc., from "generous" donors.

The continuation is known, deputy and minister in 2013 and mayor in 2015. Within the socialist and renaissance party confirmed almost unequivocally as the number two of the party, or using the Polpotian system in the hierarchy, "Brother Number Two".

Borat, who until a few weeks ago continued to defend feverishly (as he has done with other close associates with whom he is accused of co-theft), has now given up public defense.

In the conditions where political support seems to have disappeared, today only Erion Veliaj and his financiers are before Albanian justice. The questions asked are:

Will the financiers abandon the "Veliaj" political project?! Will those tens of millions of euros invested in this project be written off as "lost investment"?! Or will the Albanians see a Veliaj resurrected and resurrected from the ashes like in 2011?!

Time will give the answer to this question, but Albanians should keep one thing in mind:

A dead person cannot be resurrected and today Veliaj is a political dead man. Not even its own powerful financiers can bring it back to life, if Tiranians and Albanians remain steadfast in their uncompromising protest.

It is time for the Albanians to prove forcefully that they have abandoned and no longer accept the failed political project "Veliaj" at any price! Maybe this attitude will convince even the financiers of the project that the lack of scruples has a limit...
