The eve of December 8th and a call to young people: Deal with politics,

December 8 is not just a date or a historical event; nor is it a distant memory of a student revolt that dared to overthrow fear.

December 8 is a mirror: in it we see where we were as young people, where we are today and, most importantly, where we will go, especially the youth, if we remain silent. Today, more than ever, the Albanian youth must be told bluntly, without embellishment, without empty rhetoric:

Deal with politics. Otherwise, politics will deal with you. And Albanian politics knows no other way to deal with it than by destroying.

Yes, politics will deal with you without asking you, without asking your opinion, without holding you accountable, just as it dealt with us December Students in the early years of pluralism and expelled us and scattered us across the streets of the world.

Yes! It will kill you... Not with bullets, but with decisions made at night, with bargains made in dark corridors, with laws written for oligarchs, with reforms that have only one function: to expel you.

Yes, they will expel you.

Hundreds of thousands of young people are leaving, not because they want to see the world, but because politics has not left them a single inch of land to build a normal life.

It will take away your hope, just as it takes away your jobs, your opportunities, your future. Then, it will take away you too: some it will expel with non-return tickets; others it will slowly kill their future, in offices where meritocracy is a mockery, in institutions where rights are bought and sold, in power games where youth exist only as figures for propaganda posts.

And what do you do today? Be quiet. Surrender. Say to yourself: "I don't care about politics!"

Fatal mistake.

When you are not interested in politics, it "takes an interest" in you. It puts your hands in your pockets, then in your mind, then in your hope...

Then they put you on a bus or plane and tell you: "Get out, there's no room for you here!".

There you will understand that politics didn't just kill your hopes. It killed your future without a single shot.

Meanwhile, the place vacated by you is taken by mediocrity. It is taken by servility. It is taken by the same political-oligarchic caste that for 35 years has seen the country as private property: it makes laws for itself, tenders for itself, and continues to chew on the same old promises, recycling the same people, the same mindsets, the same scenarios that led the country into crisis after crisis and you to leave.

You know, when we attempted to overthrow communism we were young, like you today. Take us as a model, not the ugly models that are promoted every day. If you young people remain silent, the old will decide. If you retreat, the corrupt will rule. If you young people surrender, we will be left without Albania.

Get involved in politics. Not necessarily to become politicians, but to be active citizens, critical, impartial, ruthless towards lies. Get involved in politics by voting, by demanding transparency, by demanding accountability, by raising your voice, by not accepting that your fate be written by those who do not represent you.

December 8th was won by us students who had nothing in our hands except courage, dreams, and hope. Today, you young people have much more: a voice, knowledge, a world, opportunities.

But above all, you young people today have a moral obligation not to become spectators of your own annihilation. The bitter truth is: The freedom that we students of the '90s won is being defiled by the apathy of today's students and youth, by your apathy.

It's time for you to understand:

If you don't deal with politics, politics will take you as plunder.

It will take away your future, your dignity, your voice, and ultimately, your country.

It's time to take your destiny into your own hands.

If you don't deal with politics today, it will deal with you and it won't ask you if you have time, desire, or confidence.
