According to government propaganda, Brussels is stunned by the dizzying pace of Albanian reforms. If you listen to Edi Rama, the corridors of the European Union are still reeling from the speed, achievements and “historic successes” of this government in the integration process.
But if this is indeed the case, how is it explained that there is still no answer to the first group-chapter, that of the foundation, which is related to the rule of law and is known as IBAR?
How is it possible that this process is only delayed and, every time the Council meets, new questions and concerns arise?
This story with European integration has now become a political paradox in itself.
When it comes to glory, we are faced with an endless boasting of Edi Rama and his government. The impression is created that integration is a personal undertaking of the Rilindas, an exclusive work of theirs, to which no one else has ever contributed.
They are presented as heroes of a great historical front, working with sacrifice and selflessness for the "European homeland".
But as soon as the process stalls, is delayed, or encounters obstacles, integration is no longer the government's property. Suddenly it becomes a collective responsibility. And as always, the opposition is the ready culprit.
Even neighborhood kids, when caught in a mistake, show more rationality before they start pointing fingers at others.
There is a simple question that the government cannot answer: if all the reforms have been made, if every task has been fulfilled, and if Albania is moving at a "historic pace", then why is there so much nervousness towards criticism?
What criticism could diminish such "titanic" successes?
Minister Dhuka also appeared today with the same absurd logic. When asked in Parliament whether the Balluku case and the vote for her political protection had influenced the consideration of the first group chapter, she stated that she does not comment on issues that are under investigation.
But here begins the next paradox.
When it comes to avoiding responsibility, the issue is "under investigation" and no one comments. While when the moment comes to defend it politically in the Assembly, the issue is no longer legal, but political and partisan, and 82 votes are lined up without any hesitation against justice.
The paradoxes of integration have now become unbearable.
As is the ridiculous behavior of a government that seeks to record every success in the name of Edi Rama, while blaming every failure on others./ CNA
