The 15th edition of the international fine arts colony "Ditët e Mio" has opened in Korça.

42 artists from 10 different countries around the world have become part of this activity dedicated to the great master of Albanian painting, Vangjush Mio. The artists are working in nature, bringing their colors and inspiration to the city of serenades.

The “Mio Days” colony has become a beautiful cultural tradition for years that brings together painters from different countries such as Finland, Italy, Ukraine, Serbia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Montenegro. This year, Korça has been transformed into an art laboratory where every corner of the city inspires a canvas. Many of them are in Albania for the first time and express their amazement by the beauty of nature and the hospitality of the people. The visit to the Vangjush Mio house museum has been a special moment of inspiration for them, where they have found the motivation to create works dedicated to the Korça master.

Artists from Ukraine, Romania and Serbia see this event as an opportunity to exchange experiences and get to know Albanian culture better. They are creating paintings with motifs of the old bazaar and the landscapes around Korça, which they describe as full of light, color and life.

"The experience here for me is for the first time and I see that Albania is a very beautiful country with a wonderful nature. This experience for art and culture has a very great importance. I feel very happy to be here because I am also meeting my colleagues. I want to paint the artist Vangjush Mio the way I see him, after visiting his house museum," said artist Ksenia Perepechaieva.

"I come from Romania, I am a painter and architect as well. I come to Korça and Albania for the first time. I have met very nice people here, Korça is a very beautiful city. I made some sketches from different places in the city and today I will put them on the canvas. I will paint parts of the old bazaar and around Korça. The city has very beautiful nature and colors, in very good weather", said Mugur Popa.

"I am from Serbia and I have been painting for a very long time, my whole life, and professionally since I started studying painting. I continue to express myself through painting. This event is an opportunity to develop my skills, meet new friends and enjoy this wonderful place because it is my first time here. Yesterday we were at the Vangjush Mio Museum and I saw many portraits there. He is a wonderful artist, and I have taken a lot of inspiration from him. I chose to paint a portrait, I will mix realism and abstract, in the end we will see how it turns out", - Andjelija Brankovi?.

Participants from Kosovo bring personal motives and messages of optimism to the colony, emphasizing that art is the most beautiful way to bring people together and convey positive energy.

"I come from Kosovo. It's my first time coming to Korça. I'm from Kamenica, I live in Prishtina. I've been painting for two years. I have a cycle that I've been working on for a year with the concept 'Wake up with the roosters', 'Wake up early in the morning, start a good day' and I want to convey this message, so I want to leave such a painting here too. I'm very happy to be here," said Arianit Lakna.

“Mio Days” remain one of the most important cultural events in Korça, which not only honors the figure of the master Vangjush Mio, but also places the city on the map of international collaborations in contemporary art.
