The draft law for banning the broadcast of Albanian films that glorify communism has opened strong discussions and opposition among artists.

E dyta, do të ishte mëkat që figura të nderuara, të jashtëzakonshme me një reputacion jo vetëm kombëtar, por ndërkombëtar si Sandër Prosi, Tinka Kurti, Rikard Ljarja të zhdukeshin nga faqja e historisë së artit. E treta, spektatori që sheh tmerret e diktaturës të nxjerrë mësim nga diktatura dhe në demokraci të mos përsërisin fajet e asaj kohe“, u shpreh ai.

Edhe për aktoren Merita Smaja, një nismë e tillë është e gabuar. Me të njëjtën logjikë, vijon ajo, duhet të mos shfaqeshin filma as për Hitlerin apo Stalinin të cilat janë tashmë pjesë e Holliwood.

"It is shown there for example that it was done in 1960, 1970. In those years you understand what these people did, how they lived and what their mentality was. We also see films about Hitler, should we ban them? We see movies about Stalin, should we ban them? They have not been banned, but Holliëood has also done them, so history must come as it was", she said.

Actress Drande Xhaj expresses herself in softer tones, as according to her, perhaps some films should be banned today.

"Albanian films are part of the culture of the history of our country. It has been a continuous work from the artistic side. The texts and issues raised by these films should be selected. But to remove them from circulation, a colossal job that has been done and with great seriousness, does not seem right to me", she emphasized./euronews
