Attempted to smuggle immigrants illegally/ 28-year-old arrested

Shkodra police, as part of the "By Pass" operation, have arrested a 28-year-old man who was caught transporting 4 immigrants.

The arrested AM, in exchange for a payment of 1,500 euros per person, intended to smuggle immigrants into Montenegro illegally.

The 28-year-old turns out to be a person previously convicted of theft.

The four migrants who intended to cross the border illegally were prosecuted.

The police operation codenamed "By pass" is being finalized to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance to foreign citizens, in exchange for monetary gain, for illegal border crossing.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in flagrante delicto after being caught transporting 4 immigrants who, in exchange for a payment of 1,500 euros per person, intended to illegally cross the border with Montenegro.

Immigrants are being prosecuted for illegal border crossing.

Specialists of the Section for Illegal Trafficking, in cooperation with the "Eagle" Special Force, the Traffic Police and the Shkodra Police Commissariat, in continuation of the work to crack down on illegalities in any form of their manifestation, based on information obtained in the operational route, regarding a citizen who would transport illegal immigrants from Gjirokastra to Shkodra, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "By pass".

During the operation, citizen AM, 28 years old, resident of Tirana, previously convicted of theft, for the criminal offenses of "Aid for illegal border crossing" and "Irregular driving of vehicles", was arrested in flagrante delicto.

Near the "5 Heroes of Vigu" roundabout, the Police services have located the 28-year-old driving, without a driving license, an "Audi" type vehicle, with which he was transporting 4 immigrants towards the border with Montenegro.

From the verifications carried out, it emerged that the 28-year-old arrested had promised transportation from Gjirokastra towards the border with Montenegro, in return for a payment of 1,500 euros per person, to 4 immigrants who had entered Albania illegally.

Following the actions, proceedings were initiated against the 4 immigrants, for the criminal offense of "Illegal crossing of the state border".

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra, for further action./ CNA
