Historic operation "Albania"/ 444 kilograms of cocaine are seized in a truck with wood

An amount of 444 kilograms was seized by the police in Tacuarembo, during a coded operation called "Albania".

Cocaine was seized in a truck transporting firewood. According to the media, 3 people were arrested, aged 24, 36 and 20.

According to the Prosecutor 's Office , the 20-year-old man has already been sentenced for assisting in the activity of narcotics trafficking, while the two drivers have been accused of transporting drugs. The insurance measure of 120 days has been set.

Në një konferencë për shtyp, Richard Saravia, shefi i policisë së Tacuarembó, tha se kjo është një sekuestrim rekord për departamentin dhe e theksoi atë si diçka historike.

Sipas Guillermo Maciel, nënsekretar i Ministrisë së Brendshme, kokaina e sekuestruar kap vlerën e tre milionë e gjysmë dollarëve në tregun vendas: “Po të ndahej në doza në tregun kombëtar, arrin në shtatë milionë dollarë” dhe “E njëjta drogë e vendosur në Europë është 15 milionë dollarë”. Nënsekretari tregoi se “ka gjasa që nuk do të qëndronte këtu sepse është kokainë e cilësisë së mirë, ndaj shkon në përgjithësi jashtë vendit”, megjithëse tha se kjo është një hipotezë dhe se nuk është vërtetuar.
