The sister of Gjergj Laçi, the religious radical arrested a day ago, has denied the accusations that her brother used to abuse the family.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, the sister also commented on her brother's statement to the police, that he hid the family, as he protected them from evil.

The sister said that the brother protected the children from diseases that circulate, from drugs and from being affected by evil.

"There's disease out there, there's drugs out there, there's dirty stuff out there. They were not trapped inside, but the children were at school.  He could not enroll them in gymnasium. They don't let us see our brother. The religious principles are that we pray and pray to the great Allah. The woman did her husband's prayers, she stayed at home," she said to j./CNA.al
