Abuse of tenders/ GJKKO sentences former mayor of Finiqi

The Special Court has sentenced the former mayor of Finiq, Leonidha Hristo, to 4 years in prison for the criminal offense of "abuse of office." Due to the summary trial and mitigating circumstances, his sentence was reduced by 1/3, ending in 2 years in prison.

According to SPAK's investigations, Hristo, in collaboration with several other officials, during the period 2017–2019 carried out procurement procedures in a fictitious manner and in violation of the law on public procurement.

The investigative file states that the tender preparation and evaluation processes were carried out mainly by Florian Peri and Stavro Çavo, and not by the designated members of the Procurement Unit and the Bid Evaluation Commission. Also, according to SPAK, the documents were signed later by persons involved in the procedure, after the tenders had been completed.

For the other defendants, for whom SPAK declared incompetence, investigations continue at the Saranda Prosecutor's Office. Among them are Florian Peri, Stavro Çavo, Lefteria Mekshi and Lefter Karajani./ CNA
