Ukrainian officials: 'Games' from Russia over prisoner swaps

Ukraine denied Russian claims that it had indefinitely postponed prisoner exchanges, accusing Moscow of "playing dirty games" after Russian rocket and bomb attacks on Kharkiv killed three people and wounded 22 others.

In a separate development, Russian officials said two people were injured by a drone strike in the Moscow region.

In a second round of peace talks in Istanbul on Monday, both sides agreed to exchange more prisoners and return the bodies of 12,000 soldiers.

However, Kremlin adviser Vladimir Medinsky said today that Ukraine had suddenly postponed the exchanges indefinitely.

This was denied by Andriy Kovalenko, an official at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, who stressed that Moscow should stop "playing dirty games" and return to constructive work.

"Today's statements from the Russian side do not correspond to reality or previous agreements on either the exchange of prisoners or the repatriation of troops," he said on the Telegram app.

The State Coordination Office for Prisoners of War previously reported on the Telegram app that the agreement on the repatriation of the troops had indeed been reached, but no date had been agreed upon and that the Russian side resorted to unilateral actions that had not been agreed upon within the framework of the process. /CNA
