Early elections in Kosovo/ Haxhiu, invitation to the EU: Send an observation mission

The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, inviting the European Union to send an observation mission for the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo, scheduled for June 7, 2026.

Given the importance of this process, Haxhiu has invited the European Union, through an independent observation mission, to monitor and evaluate the conduct of the elections.

She emphasized that the presence of the EU Election Observation Mission would contribute to the transparency, credibility and integrity of the electoral process, in line with the Republic of Kosovo's continued commitment to democratic standards and free elections. /CNA
