US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held a press conference at the Pentagon where he spoke about war with Iran.
Hegseth said the US is not seeking war, but cannot allow Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz. The US secretary said that Project Freedom is different from Operation Epic Fury, which was launched by the US on February 28 at the beginning of the war.
"The US does not seek war, but Iran cannot be allowed to block innocent countries and their goods from an international waterway," Hegseth said.
Project Freedom's mission is to "protect innocent merchant ships from Iranian aggression," Hegseth says. He adds that it is temporary in duration./CNA, translated by BBC
