December 28 elections/ LVV chooses Albin Kurti as candidate for prime minister

The General Council of the Vetevendosje Movement has chosen Albin Kurti as the candidate for prime minister for the elections to be held on December 28. It is reported that during the vote there was no vote against or abstention. The Deputy Chairman of the Vetevendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca, said that Albin Kurti is the candidate sought by the people themselves.

"He wisely transformed VV into the largest political entity not only in Kosovo. He created a system of governance based on the principle of economic growth. Albin Kurti showed the state to the structures of Serbia in the north of our country. Albin Kurti, today more than ever, is asked by our people to continue the good path he started in 2021. By proposing him as prime minister, we remain faithful to the expectations of our own citizens," said Konjufca.

After the vote, Kurti also delivered his speech, where he stated that the December 28 elections were not in his desire and the will of the party he leads. He emphasized during his speech that there is no financial crisis in Kosovo.  

"I am honored that you have trusted me once again as a candidate for prime minister. We are facing new elections without my wish and without the will of our Movement. Twice the other entities voted against Vetëvendosje and the constitution of the government. We are facing new elections and new financial risks. This is not the situation we had imagined. We ended up here because these parties, after a 10-month deadlock, want to turn the legal crisis into a social crisis. There is no financial crisis in our country," Kurti said. /CNA
