Zelensky: Ukraine was hit with more than 900 bombs in one week
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on foreign allies for more help to strengthen air defenses, after a week in which he said the country faced more than 900 bombings.

"Last night, Russia terrorized Ukraine with over 50 drone attacks, and during the week it launched more than 900 bombs, about 30 missiles and kamikaze drones in different regions of Ukraine," he said.

According to Zelensky, "civil and critical infrastructure" has been targeted the most.

"All these attacks would be impossible if we had enough support from the world in several aspects: long-range capabilities for our security, really effective sanctions to prevent Russia from importing key materials for drone and missile production , and political decisions that could damage Russia's will to continue this war," Zelensky said.

He said that "Ukraine deserves the same security as our partners in the free world", and published on the X platform - formerly known as Twitter - several images of the destruction in different parts of Ukraine.

Ukraine has long been asking the West for the green light to use the weapons it sends to attack deeper into Russia, but it has not been allowed to do so.

Russia has repeatedly threatened that if the West allows Ukraine to use long-range weapons to attack, then it does not rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons.

A day ago, the Pentagon announced new military aid to Ukraine worth 425 million dollars.

This announcement was made just a few days before the presidential elections in the United States, which are of great importance for the continuation of American aid to Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands of people have died and millions more have been displaced from their homes./REL
