We have Badenoch

Kemi Badenoch has become the new leader of the Conservatives and the first black woman at the head of this major political party in Great Britain.

She won the race with promises to return the party to its basic principles.

Badenoch, 44, replaces former prime minister Rishi Sunak, and has vowed to lead the party through a period of regeneration, following its defeat in Britain's July general election.

At the head of the Conservative Party, Badenoch is expected to challenge what she calls institutionalist thinking on the left, and that it is time to defend the principles of free speech and the free market.

Badenoch has been the leader of the five Conservatives since mid-2016.

She won 57 percent of the votes within the party, in the last round of the competition that lasted a month.

She ultimately defeated the Minister for Immigration, Robert Jenrick, who won 43 percent of the vote.

Britain's Labor Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has welcomed her victory, saying that "the first black leader of a party in the Westminister is a moment of pride for our country".

Badenoch herself has said publicly that she prefers not to have the focus on her race.

Asked in the Conservative Party earlier this year how she would feel about becoming the first black woman to lead the party, she said she wanted "the color of the skin to not matter more than the color of the hair or the eyes". .

With a not very easy start for Labor in the leadership of the state, some conservatives believe more and more that they can return to power in the next election, which should be held in 2029./ REL
