Wagner trains the Belarusian mechanized forces

The Russian mercenary group, Wagner, has begun training the mechanized units of the Belarusian army, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced on July 30.

"Exercises are being held for the organization of departments, platoons, and companies, taking into account the experience of (Wagner's) specialists," the Russian Ministry said on Sunday.

Earlier, Wagner trained infantry, special operations forces, the Armed Forces, and internal forces of Belarus.

Thousands of Wagner mercenaries have arrived in Belarus since the group's short-lived rebellion in June.

Wagner's troops played an important role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, helping the Russian army capture key parts of the city of Bahmut after nearly 10 months of intense fighting.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko welcomed Wagner's forces to his country after brokering a deal between the Kremlin and mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin last month, ending the group's failed rebellion against Russian military leaders .

Prigozhin registered a "property management company" in Belarus last week called Concord Management and Consulting in Belarus.
