Von der Leyen: EU in solidarity with Cyprus after attack on British base in

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that she had a conversation with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, regarding the incident involving the British military base in Akrotiri.

According to Von der Leyen, the incident occurred shortly after midnight and involved an unmanned aerial vehicle targeting the British base.

She stressed that, although the Republic of Cyprus was not a direct target of the attack, the European Union stands united in the face of any threat to member states.

"We stand collectively, resolutely and unequivocally with our Member States in the face of any threat," she said.

No damage or casualties have been reported so far, while authorities continue to monitor the situation and investigate the circumstances of the incident./ CNA
