From the extent of damage to the duration of the attacks/ Trump gives updates on

US President Donald Trump has given an update on the escalating military campaign in the Middle East, via a video posted on his “Truth Social” platform. The president spoke about the scale of the attacks, describing a sweeping series of strikes across Iran.

"In the last 46 hours, the United States and its partners have launched Operation Epic Fury, one of the largest, most complex and most devastating military offensives the world has ever seen," Trump said in the six-minute speech.

He said the attack had hit hundreds of targets and destroyed a significant portion of the country's navy. Trump said the barrage also destroyed Revolutionary Guard facilities and air defense systems, in addition to killing Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and other top officials.

"The entire military command has also disappeared," he said, adding that many in Iran's military are now seeking to surrender.

The president described the weekend attacks as the beginning of a longer offensive, saying Sunday that combat operations were continuing at full force in pursuit of the administration's objectives. He did not provide significant details on any of those specific targets. Trump said the Iranian people had welcomed the attack and Khamenei's death.

"Across Iran, the voices of the Iranian people could be heard cheering and celebrating in the streets when his death was announced ," Trump said.

President Donald Trump said there are likely to be more American deaths during the combat mission in Iran, which he said will continue until the US achieves its objectives.

"Combat operations continue at this time, in full force, and will continue until all our objectives are achieved. We have very strong objectives ," he said without specifying in detail what they were.

Noting the deaths of three American service members previously announced by U.S. Central Command, the president said the nation is mourning their loss. Among other things, he said today that members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard who surrender their weapons will have full immunity and those who refuse will face certain death.

"I call once again on the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian military police, to lay down their weapons and receive complete immunity or face certain death. It will be certain death. It will not be pretty ," Trump said.

Addressing the Iranian people, Trump again urged them to seize this moment, adding that he fulfilled a promise to them to help.

"Be brave, be courageous, be heroic, and take back your country. America is with you. I made you a promise and I kept that promise. The rest will be up to you, but we will be there to help you ," Trump said.

Earlier in the day, President Trump gave a possible timeline for the US conflict with Iran, saying it could last for several weeks.

"It's always been a four-week process. As strong as it is, it's a big country, it's going to take four weeks - or less," Trump told the Daily Mail in a brief phone call.   /CNA
