Israeli military: Iran poses threat to Europe

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reacted through a post on social media regarding Iran's launch of a long-range missile, capable of reaching a target up to 4,000 km away.

The statement appears to refer to two missiles fired at the joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia. Neither missile hit its target.

"The Iranian terrorist regime launched a long-range missile for the first time since the start of Operation Roaring Lion that can reach a distance of 4,000 km. During the Operation in June 2025, the IDF revealed that the Iranian regime intends to develop missiles with a range of 4,000 km, which pose a threat to dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.

"The Iranian regime denied this. We have said it repeatedly: The Iranian terrorist regime poses a global threat. Now, with missiles that can reach London, Paris or Berlin, the Iranian terrorist regime has carried out attacks against 12 countries in the region and is developing a capability that poses a much broader threat," the military's post said.

The BBC reported earlier that there are still doubts about Iran's ability to strike Diego Garcia and there is still no conclusive evidence that Iran has missiles capable of reaching that far. /CNA
