Trump warns Israel: You will lose all US support if you annex the West Bank

US President Donald Trump has warned Israel that it would lose all support from the United States if it goes ahead with annexing the West Bank. White House officials sharply criticized a proposed vote in the Knesset on the issue, which they say goes against Trump's peace plan for Gaza.

In an interview with US TIME magazine on October 15, but which was published on Thursday, Trump said that Israel will not annex the West Bank and that he had given the floor to Arab countries.

"You can't do this now. We've had great Arab support. This won't happen because I gave the Arab countries their word. It won't happen. Israel would lose all its support from the United States if this were to happen ," he said.

Trump also revealed his plans to visit the Palestinian Strip, but offered no comment on a reconstituted Palestinian Authority governing post-war Gaza.

"I've always gotten along well with him (Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas). I've always found him reasonable, but maybe he's not. But I've always found him reasonable, like, you know, you saw him come to me and he couldn't have been more friendly, so I have to - I would really have to find out," he added.

He also said they are very close to normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, adding that Riyadh could join the Abraham Accords by the end of this year./CNA
