The train collides with the fire department in the USA/ 15 injured

A Brightline train has collided with a fire station in Delray Beach, Florida, injuring three firefighters and 12 train passengers. As reported, the three injured firefighters from Delray Beach were taken to a local hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.

While two of the firefighters were initially reported in critical condition, their condition improved. In addition to firefighters, 12 passengers from the train were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, assisted by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The crash happened Saturday morning (Dec. 28, 2024) on the tracks of East Atlantic Avenue, near Railroad Avenue, according to authorities. According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, firefighters were on their way to respond to a call when the accident occurred.

“The front of that train is completely torn apart, even parts of the fire truck were stuck to the front of the train, but it split the car in half. He split the fire truck in half and debris was everywhere,” the statement said.

An active investigation into the cause of the crash is also being conducted by the Delray Beach Police Department, Brightline officials and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Authorities are investigating whether the level crossing gates were operational at the time of the incident and have yet to confirm details about the specific cause of the accident.
