Kurti: Serbia with the support of Russia spreads narrative against Kosovo
Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accused Serbia of using propaganda and disinformation as a weapon of its foreign policy, which, according to him, are intended to harm Kosovo.

At the seventh conference of ambassadors, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kurti asked the Kosovo ambassadors to be active and proactive in combating Serbian propaganda, which, according to him, is openly supported by Russia.

"Faced with the systematic, hybrid, kinetic, terrorist attacks of Serbia, it constantly uses propaganda, misinformation as a weapon of its foreign policy, and for this very reason your work takes on added value and weight. With open support from Russia, it has set up a network of false narratives that aim to harm our country and attempt to hinder our progress towards European and Euro-Atlantic integrations," said Kurti.

According to Kurt, in the battle of false narratives, speed of response and professionalism are the key weapons.

"You must act decisively and clearly and be quick to react to every lie that Serbia or its elements spread, we must have our truth ready," he said.

Kurti, but also the other high representatives of Kosovo have also in the past accused Serbia and Russia of spreading misinformation against Kosovo.

The authorities in Kosovo have also warned of a danger that could threaten the country from Serbia. However, whenever they have spoken about such threats, they have mentioned Russia, which, according to them, is interested in destabilizing the north of Kosovo - inhabited by a majority of Serbs - and the region.

Kurti has said in the past that Serbia and Russia want expansion, while the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has described Belgrade as an "extended hand of Moscow" and is trying to "play Russia's games" to open a new front. to the West.

Serbia, which does not recognize Kosovo's independence, has good relations with Russia and Belgrade rejects international calls to join European Union sanctions over Moscow's war on Ukraine.

Russia, meanwhile, has justified its intervention in Ukraine with the situation in Kosovo. Russia has recognized two eastern Ukrainian regions as independent states, and the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has said that while Kosovo has declared independence, why these regions can't either. However, Kurti described these comparisons as ignorance./REL
