The driver who killed 35 people in China is sentenced to death

The driver who killed 35 people at a sports center in Zhuhai, southern China, has been sentenced to death.

According to foreign media, 62-year-old Fan Weiqiu drove his car into the citizens because he was "unsatisfied" with the way his property was divided after the divorce.

The court described the defendant's motives as "extremely sordid, the nature of the crime extremely scandalous, the methods particularly cruel and the consequences particularly severe, causing considerable harm to society."

After the attack, Fan Weiqiu stabbed himself. The anger caused to the citizens was great. Some of them demanded the immediate execution of the convict.

The attack took place in the southern city of Zhuhai and was the deadliest mass killing in China since 2014.
