Kocani Tragedy/ 101 injured sent abroad for treatment

People injured in the Kocani tragedy in North Macedonia are being sent abroad, while the total number of patients currently being treated abroad has reached 101 people.

The Minister of Health in the Republic of Macedonia, Arben Taravari, has revealed details about the health condition of patients inside and outside the country. He stressed that the injured are in stable condition.

"101 patients are abroad, after the crisis headquarters meeting this morning we have concluded that all patients are fortunately in a relatively stable condition. I wish and hope that we will slowly start sending some patients home. Today, three or four patients will return home. The last transfer will take place today, only 5 patients to Sweden and after that we will have no more transfers," said Taravari.

At least 59 people lost their lives in the early hours of Sunday morning in Kocani, as a result of a fire during a concert with over 500 participants in a nightclub.

The government of North Macedonia has declared seven days of mourning.

The Macedonian Prime Minister has warned of criminal liability for all those involved.

Macedonian Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski said that according to information received, the fire broke out as a result of pyrotechnics used for lighting effects at the concert of the group ADN, according to the Macedonian News Agency. /CNA
