Drug trafficking worth 686 thousand euros/ 4 people arrested near the border

Four Greek citizens, including a 26-year-old woman and three men, aged 24, 29 and 44, were arrested near the Albanian border, in the Kozana area, for drug trafficking and disobeying the police.

Specifically, on October 16, police officers attempted to conduct a search of two cars, including a private car and a private vehicle moving in the Kostur area, which did not obey the police stop signal and sped away.

Then, during the pursuit, the passengers of the private vehicle, passing through a rural-forest area of ??Kostur, after abandoning two travel bags, which contained 39 packages of raw cannabis, with a total weight of 42 kilograms and 869 grams, continued their journey towards the Kozana area.

The private vehicle with a driver and a passenger, a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old, was stopped in an area of ??Kozana and arrested. Subsequently, the private vehicle with a driver and a passenger, a 29-year-old and a 44-year-old, who acted as escorts, thus facilitating the unhindered transportation of the drugs, was also found and stopped in an area of ??Kozana.

The financial benefit from the subsequent trafficking of the found drugs amounts to 686,042 euros.

The Criminal Prosecution Department for Drugs of the Deputy Director of Criminal Prosecution and Investigation in Kastoria conducted a preliminary investigation into the case, while the arrested persons, with the criminal case against them, were sent to the Minor Offenses Prosecution Office in Kostur./ CNA
