Serious situation in Greece/ People climb onto the roof to escape the floods

The situation in Greece caused by the floods seems serious. So far, the number of people who have lost their lives due to bad weather has reached three.

Storm system Daniel's passage through the Greek capital on Wednesday caused serious traffic disruptions, turning many central roads into rivers, while several metro and train stations were forced to close temporarily after being flooded.

The storm's fury prompted authorities to send an alert message to 112 residents of Attica, warning them that heavy rain and storms were coming and asking them to limit their movements.

At the same time, eyebrows were raised as regional authorities were ensuring that the cleaning of road drains was carried out normally.

In the center of Vasilissis Sofias Avenue people were put in danger after being swept away by the rushing waters. A video uploaded on social media showed a man struggling after being abducted and receiving help from passersby.

Petrou Ralli, Hamosternas and Vasilissis Sofias were among the main streets of the city that were flooded.

There was also flooding on Poseidonos Avenue towards Glyfada from Syngrou Avenue south of Athens.

Part of Konstantinou Karamanli Street, near Asklepio Hospital in Vula, was also closed to traffic due to flooding.

Services on Line 1 (Green) of the Athens Metro were disrupted due to track flooding, with trains only running between Piraeus and Tavros and Omonia and Kifissia, as Petralona, ??Monastiraki and Thiseio stations were temporarily closed.

Evangelismos metro station (Line 3) was also temporarily closed due to water entering the entrances.

In Magnesia, the authorities have announced that traffic is prohibited throughout the prefecture, due to the bad weather Daniel.
