White House warns: If Iran does not admit defeat, Trump will cause

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt held a press conference where she spoke about the American and Israeli military operation in Iran.

Leavitt said the US is continuing to destroy the Iranian regime, adding that Operation Epic Fury has been an "extraordinary military triumph." She said more than 9,000 "enemy" targets have been hit and more than 140 Iranian ships have been destroyed to date.

"Iran's ballistic missile and drone attacks have declined by approximately 90% ," Leavitt claims.

She said the US is systematically dismantling Iran's defense industrial base, saying several bombs were dropped over the weekend on Iranian underground facilities where missiles and weapons are stored.

Leavitt also spoke about negotiations to end the war. She said that the US president wants peace, but if Iran fails to admit defeat, Trump will ensure they are hit harder than ever before.

"President Trump is not playing bluff and is prepared to raise hell. Iran must not miscalculate again. Their last miscalculation cost them their top leadership, their navy, their air force and their air defense system. Any violence beyond this point will occur because the Iranian regime refuses to understand," she said. 

She further stressed that talks between the US and Iran are continuing, denying that they have reached an impasse. She says that while there are elements of truth to the 15-point plan drawn up by the US to end the war, not all the details reported by the media have been accurate. 

Meanwhile, according to Iranian state media, Tehran has called the US demands "excessive" and said it will end the war "when it decides on its own."

Asked if there was a timeline for when oil could travel freely through the Strait of Hormuz, she said there was no specific date but that the Trump administration was working to achieve this as soon as possible. /CNA
