The former Minister of Internal Affairs in North Macedonia, Gordana Jankulovska, was released from prison on Wednesday, after three years of serving the sentence. She was initially sentenced to six years in prison after charges that charged her with the illegal purchase of a Mercedes car worth over 500,000 euros for the needs of former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski. However, the sentence was later reduced to four years of imprisonment.

The Court of Appeal in Skopje decided to release the former minister on bail; She would return to serve her sentence if she commits another offense by October next year.

However, there is another lawsuit against her related to the issue of illegal wiretapping and the destruction of wiretapping devices. But, according to legal experts, it is likely that she will be acquitted of these charges after the relief provided by the new Penal Code for office bearers who have misused their duties.

While serving her sentence in the Idrizova prison near Skopje, Gordana Jankulovska served in the prison library in the women's ward, while the fact that she is the mother of a five-year-old child who "was deprived of maternal care" was taken into account, but also her exemplary behavior while serving her sentence, according to the authorities./ VOA
