Cocaine and heroin laboratory destroyed in Pristina

The Kosovo Police announced that, during the evening of September 21, the investigators of the anti-drug unit closed a cocaine and heroin laboratory in Pristina.

According to the Police announcement, this action came after a ten-month investigation of a laboratory on "Hyzri Talla" street in Pristina.

"It is suspected that this 'laboratory' for the processing of heroin and cocaine-type narcotic substances has been used by the suspects for a period of time, where after processing the substances, they package them in small doses for sale in different regions of the country" , it is stated in the Police announcement.

This action was also announced by the Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, who said that this is the 19th such laboratory destroyed in the last three years, during which it was said that more than 2,500 kilograms of types of drugs were seized. different drugs.

"This battle will continue and no one will be invulnerable and powerful before the law. This phenomenon that endangers the lives of the children of our youth and that destroys the harmony in the families of our country, will be hit continuously and mercilessly by us", Sveçla wrote on Facebook.

Such actions have been reported in the past. In May 2022, the Kosovo Police had destroyed two drug laboratories - one in the north of Kosovo and one in Ferizaj.

During that action, a marijuana cultivation laboratory was discovered with over 10,000 plants "ready to be sold illegally on the market", Sveçla said at the time.

Within six months of 2023, about 5 grams of heroin, about 58 grams of cocaine and about 1 kg of marijuana have been confiscated from users of narcotic substances, the Kosovo Police previously informed REL.

In the same period, according to her, about 2.6 kg of heroin, 4.6 kg of cocaine, about 303 kg of marijuana, 3.5 kg of hashish, about 1 kg of ecstasy, over 1,100 cannabis plants, 3 milliliters of cannabis oil, were confiscated from drug traffickers. 120 grams of amphetamine and about 2 kg of other drugs.

Meanwhile, for the criminal offenses of 'unauthorized purchase, possession, sale and distribution of narcotics, psychotropic and analogous substances', as well as for 'cultivation of the hashish plant, cocaine bush or cannabis plants', the police "opened 291 cases and arrested 387 people".

According to the Criminal Code of Kosovo, it is illegal for citizens to buy, possess or distribute narcotic substances; they can be punished with a fine or imprisonment, depending on the amount and type of narcotics seized by the law enforcement authorities./ Rel
