Attacks in Lebanon/ USA warns Israel

The US government has stated that an escalation of the military conflict along the Lebanese border would be contrary to its interests, according to White House national security spokesman John Kirby.

Speaking on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday morning, Kirby said the latest attacks serve to underscore how important it is to try to find a diplomatic solution.

"No one probably realized how difficult it was going to be," he said. "But that doesn't mean we're going to give it up."

Kirby added that in communications with Israeli officials he has informed them that escalation of the military conflict is not in their interest.
