Serbia signs an agreement with France for the purchase of "Rafale"

Serbia has signed an agreement on Thursday with the French company, Dassault Aviation, for the purchase of 12 Rafale fighter jets.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, met on Thursday in Belgrade, where they signed memorandums and cooperation agreements. Macron is staying for a two-day visit to Belgrade.

After the meeting, Vucic said that Serbia will own 12 fighter planes and that the contract for their purchase is worth 2.7 billion euros.

"This is great news for us," said Vucic in a joint conference with Macron.

He emphasized that Serbia will pay him two installments of 420 million euros in the years 2024 and 2025, but did not indicate when the Rafale aircraft will arrive in Belgrade.

Both Vu?i? and Macron warned earlier before the visit that one of the main topics of their meeting would be the purchase of Rafale fighter jets from Serbia.

The agreement for the purchase of French military aircraft was signed by the Serbian Minister of Defense, Bratislav Gashi?, and by the executive director of Dassault, Eric Trapije./ Rel
