Tensions rise / NATO destroys another ballistic missile headed towards Turkey

Another ballistic missile launched by Iran towards Turkey has been shot down in its airspace.

The news was confirmed by a NATO spokeswoman through a post on "X", stating that the missile was destroyed by NATO defenses based in the eastern Mediterranean and that the fragments fell in a remote area of ??southeastern Turkey.

"NATO has again intercepted a missile heading towards Turkey. NATO stands firm in its readiness to defend all allies against any threat ," its post said.

The incident in southern Turkey marks the second missile intercepted by Iran in the past week. Turkey, NATO's second-largest military and Iran's neighbor, had warned Tehran on Saturday against another attack but stopped short of suggesting it wants to formally call on members of the bloc for further protection.  /CNA
