Photo-Tehran is "occupied" by black smoke, Iranians on alert

Residents of the Iranian capital, Tehran, have been facing 'darkness' across the city since this morning.

This situation has been created by thick black smoke from Israeli airstrikes on several fuel depots, leaving the roads dark long after sunrise.

The Israeli strikes targeted five major fuel storage facilities across Tehran. Windows of nearby buildings were shattered by the impact of the blasts.

Iranian media reports that at least until midday, cars traveling along Tehran's main roads were still using their headlights to see in the dark.

Authorities warned residents that the air had become dangerous for residents. The Iranian Red Crescent Society said that significant amounts of toxic hydrocarbons, sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides had been released into the atmosphere, raising a new alarm for locals. /CNA
