Protests forced him to resign/ Vucevic: We must show responsibility

Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vu?evi? announced his resignation at a press conference at the Serbian Government.

"When I received the mandate to form the government at the end of April last year, of course I had a strong sense of pride, but above all I tried to understand the responsibility that this job and that position carries. I was aware that there are numerous challenges for Serbia, in the region, that the geopolitical situation is complicated, and I also saw myself as part of the policy of continuity, that we continue on the same paths that are characteristic of it and its meaning towards politics, proud of what we as a government have done together with the President of the Republic in the past nine months, above all in the economy," said Vu?evi?.

As he said, what cast a huge shadow over the mandate of this Government was the tragic event in Novi Sad on November 1, 2024, when 15 people lost their lives and two were seriously injured.

"Since then, Serbia seems to have remained stuck in that accident. Unfortunately, we have again seen political abuses of that tragedy and attempts for someone to capitalize on the accident," Vucevic said.

He added that here too the government has shown responsibility and that two ministers have offered their resignations.

"The prosecution received everything that was requested to conduct the investigation, we showed that there is no privilege and we as a government tried to publish everything that we think should be public from the documents at the request of the protesting students," he said./ CNA
