Tragic train crash/ The Metro workers' union announces a 24-hour strike

The Athens Metro Operation Workers Union has announced a strike today, which will last from 6 am to 12 midnight.

This strike comes as a result of the collision of two trains in which dozens of people lost their lives.

No rail line will operate today, due to the 24-hour strike announced by the Railway Federation (POS) .

SELMA's announcement:

"Our association mourns together with the whole society for the tragic fatal accident on the Greek railways.

At the altar of private profit and the indifference of those responsible, dozens of our fellow human beings were lost and as many were injured.

Our union has been complaining for years of severe shortages in materials, spare parts, maintenance consumables and severe staff shortages for all operations and maintenance specialties, which forces existing staff to overtime with all that entails. .

Our problems are shared with OSE and anyone who doesn't admit it is just blind.

For all the above reasons wanting the fatal accident to be the last.

We express our indignation and announce a strike from 06:00 in the morning until 24:00 at night for Thursday 3/2/2023". /CNA.al
