Fatal train collision in Greece/ The second error of the station operator is

OSE management consultant Pavlos Terezakis explained that the stationmaster saw for 5.5 km the passenger train moving in the wrong direction, descending towards Athens instead of ascending to Thessaloniki.

After the fatal signal given to the engineer of the 'Intercity 62' train, the stationmaster did not use the technological skills at his disposal to stop the train in time.

"Larisa station has a local signal control panel, before and behind the station at a distance there are light signals and changes indicating the presence of the train. Why the station master could not park the train up to 5.5 km behind the station is a matter of investigation of the committee. If he had seen the work panel because I checked it before the investigator came and told him about 5.5 km, he could have seen the train enter the opposite track and the fatality would have been avoided", said Mr. Terezakis initially .

We remind you that the train collision in Greece on Tuesday has caused 47 victims so far. The cause of the fire explosion is suspected to be the cutting of an electric cable in one of the train carriages with passengers, which at the time of the collision proved fatal./ CNA.al
