Phone lines and internet connections are slowly being restored in Gaza after more than a day of almost total communication blackouts.

This news has been confirmed by the Palestine Telecommunication Company (Paltel), which has said that landline, mobile and internet services are gradually being restored in the Gaza Strip.

Even the journalists who are in Gaza have been able to announce that they already have internet through social networks.

The link was cut after Israel intensified its bombing and launched a major ground operation with tanks and troops.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says this marks the "second phase" of a "long and difficult" war with Hamas.

He has confirmed that Israeli commanders are deployed "all over the Gaza Strip".

On the other hand, the International Red Cross (ICRC) has called for an immediate halt to the war, describing it as an "intolerable level of human suffering".

Israel has been bombing Gaza since October 7, following Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 people and kidnapped 229 hostages.
