Two oil depots in Russia are involved in the fire/ Cause, drone attacks

At least three Russian regions were attacked by dozens of drones overnight between August 2 and 3, setting fire to two oil depots, Russian authorities reported.

Rostov regional governor Vasily Golubev said on Saturday that 55 "Ukrainian drones" attacked his region overnight, damaging "warehouses in Kamensky and Morozovsky districts".

He added that no casualties have been reported.

There is a military airfield in Morozovski County, which has been the target of drone attacks in the past.

Videos posted by the Astra channel on Telegram showed fires at the airfield and at an oil depot in the Kamensky district.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, said an oil tank was destroyed by a drone strike, but there were no casualties. He said the fire has been extinguished.

In the Oryol region, governor Andrei Klychkov wrote on Telegram that three drones were destroyed, while "two drones fell on a residential building."

He said no casualties were reported.

Russia's Defense Ministry reported that 36 drones were destroyed overnight, 17 in the Oryol region, nine in the Belgorod region, and eight in the Kursk region.

Radio Free Europe is unable to verify reports of fighting inside Russia.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military reported that 29 Russian drones were launched against the country overnight, of which 24 were shot down.

Russian authorities also reported that five civilians were killed and 22 wounded by Russian shelling in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

Despite overwhelming evidence, Russia continues to deny that it is not attacking civilians in its war against Ukraine.

The United Nations Observer Mission has said that at least 11,284 Ukrainian civilians have been killed by the war since Russia launched its full-scale occupation of Ukraine in February 2022, stressing that the true number is likely to be much higher./ REL
