The German minister warns: the EU should prepare for war

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has warned the European Union to prepare for war by the end of this decade.

In an interview published in the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, the minister says that the threats made by Russia may escalate.

Pistorius sees it as an urgent need for the countries of the European Union to strengthen their defense industries. According to him, this is the right way to be prepared for possible challenges.

“It's not a joke. We can face risks until the end of this decade," he said.

Boris Pistorius called on the states of the Union to put the focus in the direction of the armed forces, industry and society, and this according to him should be done in a time window of five to eight years./ CNA
