The UN "raises" the alarm: Children in Gaza are drinking salty water

Children are facing a dire situation in Gaza, where parents have no choice but to give them salt water, according to the UN children's aid agency Unicef.

Toby Fricker, a spokesman for the body, told BBC News that the shortages that existed in Gaza even before the current conflict had risen to another level.

Asked about the aid supplies that have now been able to enter Gaza, Fricker said: “There have been supplies, but they are extremely minimal.

"When you see the tremendous needs on the ground that we have, there has to be much, much, much more."

Fricker called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and increased aid to Gaza.

"What we are seeing now is that children are being killed, children are being injured, maimed," he said./ CNA
