"First Hamas thanked him, now Iran"/ Israel responds to Spanish Prime Minister

Israel has reacted after Spain refused to grant the US permission to use jointly operated military bases on its territory to attack Iran.

Israel's Foreign Minister has accused Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez of being on the wrong side of history. In a post on the "X" platform yesterday evening, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that Sanchez is appealing to terrorists and oppressive regimes.

“First, Hamas thanked Sanchez. Then the Houthis thanked Sanchez. Now Iran thanks him. Is this being on the ‘right side’ of history? ” the Israeli minister said.

On Saturday, Sanchez said the offensive by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was making the world less stable and called for a lasting political solution to the conflict.

His statements were also reinforced by his government's refusal to allow the US to use bases in Rota and Moro for ongoing attacks against Iran.

Sanchez has also been one of the most vocal European critics of both Israel's war in Gaza and the EU's response to it. /CNA
