NATO zgjat mandatin e Stoltenberg

Mandati i kreut të NATO-s Jens Stoltenberg do të jetë në krye të aleancës ushtarake euroatlantike dhe një vit shtesë nga përfundimi i mandatit të tij.

Krerët e vendeve anëtare pritet të mbështesin këtë ide në samitin e NATO-s në Vilnius.

Aleatët falënderuan Sekretarin e Përgjithshëm për udhëheqjen dhe angazhimin e tij, të cilat kanë qenë kritike për ruajtjen e unitetit transatlantik përballë sfidave të pashembullta të sigurisë, tha faqja e internetit e NATO-s.

Stoltenberg, ish-kryeministri i Norvegjisë, ka qenë në krye të Organizatës së Traktatit të Atlantikut të Veriut që nga viti 2014 dhe mandati i tij është zgjatur tashmë tre herë.

Stoltenberg është shprehur disa muaj më parë se nuk donte të qëndronte në krye të aleancës ushtarake, por anëtarët e NATO-s i kërkuan që të pranonte një mandat tjetër pasi nuk arritën një konsensus për pasardhësin e tij./ CNA
